Buongiorno (good day) from Italy. This week was a typically week in Rome with a weekend trip to Preveza, Greece. Monday was a typical day, with classes in the morning followed by lunch at Pozzos. We all took our Art History test as a group after lunch. Had a chance to relax before dinner. Tuesday was history class at Ostia, the ancient port city of Rome. After returning to campus, we headed to Abbey Theater for taco night. Ended up staying for a while talking before catching the bus back to campus.

Wednesday was art history at St Mary Major, where we explored and learned about the different types of art in the church. We saw some other churches before heading back to campus for pizza. After lunch we did chores, worked on homework, and got ready for Convivium. Thursday, we headed to Monte Cassino, a Benedictine monastery for Benedict class. We explored the monastery in the morning and got lunch a local restaurant before heading back. Some of us went to Abbey Theater afterwards for karaoke.

Woke up early and got a cab to the airport. Our flight left for Greece around 7:30. We landed in Preveza around 10 am (time change) and headed into town. Preveza is located halfway along the coast in the Epirus region of central Greece. The area is surrounded by the Thesprotain mountains and the clear blue waters of the Ionian Sea. Preveza is popular with boat owners but was otherwise not touristry. After getting a cab into the city we walked around and got coffee at a local shop. We grabbed gyros from Meat & Grill, what I assume was a fast-food joint for lunch (we would go to this place everyday as it was both cheap and delicious). We checked into our air bnb around two and went to a few local grocery stores to get some food for the weekend. We headed back to the apartment to relax because it was supposed to rain. We all made supper together and then watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding for a movie night.

We had a slow start to Saturday and headed to the beach around noon. We swam in the clear blue waters and relaxed on the beach. We went back to get gyros for supper and walked around town for a bit before heading to bed early. On Sunday we had a big brunch at the apartment before heading back to the beach before our flight. We enjoyed the beach for a few hours before heading back to Meat & Grill for one final gyro. We got a cab to the airport and went through the easiest sercuity ever. Our flight to Rome left around 7 pm and we got landed around 8 pm. We made our way back to campus and went to bed.

Ciao, Ann
