Buongiorno (good day) from Italy! My third week in Rome consisted of settling in to our class routine and a very relaxing weekend in the city. Monday morning started with search for happiness class followed by a scavenger hunt in the neighborhood for Italian. We ate lunch at Pozzo and headed back to campus to get a jump start on homework for the week. On Tuesday we were back in the Roman Forum for history class in the afternoon. We swung by the Colosseum for a quick tour. After class we got dinner at Abby Theater, where they serve one-euro tacos on Tuesdays.

We were up bright and early on Wednesday to get to the catacombs for art history. We got to see some of the first Christian art ever made and learned tons of new facts from our guide. We stopped at a church in the area and talked about architecture before heading back to campus to eat pizza. That night we had Convivium dinner together as a group. On Thursday we headed to Subiaco, the first Benedictine monastery ever created for our Benedict class. We were able to tour the two monasteries in the area, see some of the ancient archives, and enjoy the impressive view.

Friday was another class day and some of us headed into town afterwards. We hopped on the metro in search of a thrift store only to find the Spanish Steps. We got dinner at McDonalds for supper. After getting back to campus some of us had a little get together on the patio where we listened to music and learned some dances. On Saturday we woke up and got ready to welcome President’s Club who will be here of the next week. We welcome the first two groups and ate lunch with them. After lunch we headed into town to pick up more dress pants. We ate supper at a local restaurant with President’s Club and welcomed the third group to campus afterwards. Sunday was spent working on homework and planning upcoming weekend trips.

Ciao, Ann
